Three days later, a wedding was held in Cana of Galilee, and Christ was invited together with his disciples. And then the owners ran out of wine. The Virgin Mary asked Jesus to help them so that they would not disgrace themselves in front of the guests. Then Jesus directed that the six water pots used for ritual ablutions be filled to the brim with water. The servants did so, and the water turned into wine. Thus Jesus performed the first miracle and showed His glory.

The feast of Easter was approaching. Jesus Christ came to the Temple and found a booming trade. There they sold oxen, sheep and changed money. Then Christ scattered the money of the money-changers, overturned their tables, drove the sellers out, and commanded them to remove the pigeons: "Take these things from here, and do not make My Father's house a house of trade" (John 14:2).

Going through the cities and villages, He preached to the people, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit (the humble), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you unrighteously for my sake. Rejoice and rejoice, for your wages are great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:3-12).

Christ also said that He did not come to break the law, but to bring it to its fullness (Matthew 5:17). He forbade not only murder, but also vain anger, forbade lustful glances and divorces, except in cases of adultery. Christ did not allow us to avenge ourselves and commanded us to love our enemies, to bless those who curse and to pray for those who offend us, so that we might be sons of the heavenly Father, Who is good to the ungrateful and the wicked.

Christ said that treasures should be stored not on earth, but in heaven, where they cannot be stolen. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21). You cannot serve God and wealth at the same time. Therefore, we should not give ourselves over to many cares, but rely on God. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all earthly things will be added to you (cf. Matthew 6:36).
