38I pursue my enemies and destroy them, and I do not return until I have destroyed them.

39I destroy them and smite them, and they do not get up, but fall under my feet.

40You gird me with strength for war, and you bring down before me those who rise up against me.

41You turn the rear of my enemies to me, and I destroy those who hate me.

42They cry out, but there is no one to save, to the Lord, but he will not hearken to them.

43I scatter them like the dust of the earth, I wash them like the dirt of the street, and I trample them down.

44Thou hast delivered me from the rebellion of my people; Thou hast preserved me, that I may be my head over the foreigners; a people I did not know serve me.

45Foreigners caress me before me; they obey me when they hear about me.

46The foreigners turn pale and tremble in their fortifications.

47As the Lord lives, and blessed is my defender! May God be exalted, the refuge of my salvation,

48The God who avenges me and subdues the nations to me

49Who delivers me from my enemies! Above those who rise up against me Thou hast exalted me; Thou hast delivered me from a cruel man.

50Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, among the foreigners, and I will sing to your name,

51O thou who magnificently saves his king and shows mercy to his anointed David and his descendants for ever!

1These are the last words of David, the saying of David the son of Jesse, the saying of a man set high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel:

2The Spirit of the Lord speaks in me, and his word is on my tongue.

3The God of Israel has said, the rock of Israel has said of me, "He who has dominion over men will be righteous, ruling in the fear of God."

4And as at the dawn of the morning, when the sun rises in a cloudless sky, grass grows out of the earth because of the radiance after the rain,

5Is not my house with God? For he hath made an everlasting covenant with me, firm and immutable. Is not this how all my salvation and all my will proceed from Him?

6But the wicked will be like thorns that have been cast out, which they do not take with their hands.
