Interpretation of the Gospel of John

And Jesus said, Leave her; she has reserved it for the day of my burial.

718

For you always have the poor with you, but not always Me.

719

… you always have the poor with you, and when you want, you can do good to them.

720

Many of the Jews knew that He was there, and they came not only to see Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead. And the chief priests decided to kill Lazarus also, because for his sake many of the Jews came and believed in Jesus.

721

On the next day, a multitude of people who had come to the feast, hearing that Jesus was going to Jerusalem, took palm branches and went out to meet Him.

722

And they cried out: Hosanna! blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, King of Israel!

723

and the people who preceded and accompanied cried out, Hosanna (salvation) to the Son of David!

724

And Jesus, having found a colt, sat down on it;

725

And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethpage to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples...

726

as it is written: "Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion! Behold, thy King cometh seated on a colt."

727

His disciples did not understand this at first;

728

but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that it was written about Him, and they did it to Him.
