Gospel story

But He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do such thoughts enter into your hearts? Look at My hands and My feet; it is I Myself; touch me, and examine me, for the spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had said this, he showed them his hands, and his feet, and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

And when they were not yet fully believing and marveling for joy, He said to them, "Do you have any food here?" They gave Him some of the baked fish and honeycomb. He took and ate before them.

And he said to them, This is what I have told you while I was with you, that all that is written about me in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, must be fulfilled. Then He opened their minds to the understanding of the Scriptures. And he said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead on the third day, and to be preached in his name repentance and forgiveness of sins in all nations, beginning with Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of this.

And the Lord Jesus said to them a second time, Peace be unto you. As the Father sent me, so do I send you. Having said this, He breathed and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." To whom you forgive sins, they will be forgiven; on whom you leave, they will remain.

253. The Sixth Appearance of the Lord: Again to All and with Thomas

In. 20, 24-31.

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Twin, was not there with them when the Lord Jesus came. The other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said unto them, Unless I see the wounds of the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.

After eight days the disciples of the Lord were again in the house, and Thomas with them. And the Lord Jesus came, with the doors shut, and stood in the midst of them, and said unto them, Peace be unto you. Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger hither, and see my hands; Give thy hand and put it into my side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.

Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God! The Lord Jesus said to him, "Thou hast believed, because thou hast seen me; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.

254. The Seventh Apparition of the Lord: On the Sea of Tiberias

In. 21, 1-6.

After this, the Lord Jesus again appeared to His disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. And he appeared thus: Simon Peter, and Thomas, who is called the Twin, and Nathanael of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two of His other disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going to fish." They said to him, "We are also going with you." They went and immediately entered the boat, and caught nothing that night.

And when morning came, the Lord Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not know that it was the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus said to them, "Children! Do you have any food? They answered him, "No." And he said to them, "Cast your nets on the right side of the boat, and you will catch them."
