The Gospel of John

18. I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me.

19. Then they said to him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither Me nor My Father; if you had known me, you would have known my Father also.

20. These are the words Jesus spoke at the treasury when he was teaching in the temple; and no man took him, because his hour had not yet come.

21. Again Jesus said to them, "I am departing, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin." Where I go, you cannot come.

22. Then the Jews said, "Will He kill Himself, that He says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come'?

23. He said to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.

24. Therefore I told you that you would die in your sins; for if you do not believe that it is I, you will die in your sins.

25. Then they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "From the beginning I am, just as I say to you."

26. I have much to say and judge of you; but He who sent Me is true, and what I have heard from Him, that I also say to the world.

27. They did not understand what He was saying to them about the Father.

28. So Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of man, then you will know that it is I and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father has taught me, so I say.

29. He who sent Me is with Me; The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do what pleases Him.

30. When he said this, many believed in him.

31. Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples,
