Foreseeing that many misfortunes and temptations were coming upon the Russian Church and that the children of God would be in turmoil, like a good pastor ready to lay down his life for his flock, Thou didst say to people: "Beware of temptations, stand firm in the Orthodox faith, be of good courage and be strong, and glorify the Lord, crying out to Him: Alleluia."

Enlightened by the Divine mind, Thou didst pour forth theological streams of life, O all-blessed Father John, in fasting and prayer the words of God with tears in the hearts of the faithful, Thou didst call the children of our land to the light of the true knowledge of God. And Thou who art strengthened in the love of God, sing to thee this: Rejoice, thou ardent zealot of the Gospel Truth; Rejoice, O thou unceasing herald of the words of eternal life; Rejoice, O thou who art worthily adorned with thy life equal to the angels; Rejoice, O thou faithful intercessor at the Throne of God for people; Rejoice, O thou who hast clung to the Church of Christ with all thy heart from youth; Rejoice, O thou who didst be crucified with Christ for people with all souls; Rejoice, O thou who cultivatest thy heart with the love of Christ, like a fruitful field; Rejoice, O thou who didst give relief to people who were exhausted in sorrows and sorrows, with compassion and prayer; Rejoice, O John, O thou who didst pray for the land of Russia.
