21 No evil shall befall the righteous, but the wicked shall be full of evil.
22 A lying mouth is an abomination to the Lord, but they that speak the truth are acceptable to him.
23 A prudent man hides knowledge, but the heart of fools expresses foolishness.
24 The hand of the diligent shall reign, but the sluggard shall be under tribute.
25 The anguish in a man's heart oppresses him, but a kind word cheers him up.
26 A righteous man shows his neighbor the way, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 The sluggard does not roast his game; but the property of a diligent person is of great value.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in the path thereof there is no death.
Chapter 13
1 A wise son heareth his father's admonition, but a violent son heareth not reproof.
2 Of the fruit of his mouth a man shall taste good, but the soul of transgressors shall taste evil.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his soul; and whoever opens his mouth wide is in trouble.
4 The soul of the slothful desireth but in vain; but the soul of the diligent shall be satisfied.
5 The righteous hate the false word, but the wicked shame and dishonor himself.
6 Righteousness preserves the blameless in the way, but wickedness destroys the sinner.
7 A man pretends to be rich, and he has nothing; another pretends to be poor, and he has a lot of wealth.
8 With his riches a man redeems his life, but the poor hear no threat.
9 The light of the righteous burneth with joy, but the lamp of the wicked is quenched. [The deceitful souls wander in sins, but the righteous have compassion and have mercy.]
10 From arrogance comes strife, but with those who consult wisdom.
11 Wealth is exhausted by vanity, but he who gathers it by labor increases it.
12 A hope that does not come true for a long time torments the heart, and a fulfilled desire is like a tree of life.
