28 In the multitude of the people is the greatness of the king, but in the scarcity of the people is the misfortune of the sovereign.

29 A patient man has much understanding, but he who is irritable shows foolishness.

30 A meek heart is life to the body, but envy is rotten to the bones.

31 Whoever oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker; but he who honors Him does good to the needy.

32 For his evil the wicked shall be rejected, but the righteous shall have hope even in his death.

33 Wisdom rests in the heart of the prudent, and in the midst of fools it makes itself felt.

34 Righteousness exalts the people, but iniquity is the dishonor of the nations.

35 The king's favor is against the servant of understanding, but his wrath is against him who reproaches him.

Chapter 15

1 [Wrath destroys even the prudent.] A gentle answer turns away anger, but an insulting word stirs up wrath.

2 The tongue of the wise gives good knowledge, but the mouth of fools spews out foolishness.

3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place: they see the evil and the good.

4 A meek tongue is a tree of life, but an unbridled tongue is a contrition of spirit.

5 A fool despises the discipline of his father; but he who hearkens to rebuke is prudent. [In the abundance of righteousness there is great power, and the wicked will be rooted out of the earth.]

6 In the house of the righteous there is an abundance of treasures, but in the gain of the wicked there is disorder.

7 The mouth of the wise spreadeth knowledge, but the heart of fools is not so.

8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable to him.

9 An abomination to the Lord is the way of the wicked, but he loves him that walketh in the way of righteousness.

10 Evil chastisement is to him that deviates from the way, and he that hates reproof shall perish.

11 Hell and Abaddon are open before the Lord, much more the hearts of the children of men.

12 A profligate man loveth not them that rebuke him, neither shall he go to the wise.
