In those days Jesus came to Capernaum; and it was heard that he was in the house. Immediately many people gathered, so that there was no room at the door; and he spoke a word to them. And they came to him with a paralytic, who was carried by four; and not being able to approach Him because of the multitude, they opened the roof of the house where He was, and having dug it, they lowered the bed on which the paralytic lay. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Child! thy sins are forgiven thee. And some of the scribes sat there, and thought in their hearts, Why does he blaspheme thus? who can forgive sins except God alone? And Jesus, knowing immediately in his spirit that they were thinking thus in themselves, said unto them, Why do ye think thus in your hearts? Is it easier? shall I say to the paralytic, "Thy sins are forgiven?" Or shall I say, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins, saith unto the paralytic, I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house. Immediately he arose, and taking up his bed, went out before all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this."

In those days, Jesus, as he passed, saw Levi of Alphaeus sitting at the toll-house, and said to him, "Follow me." And he arose and followed Him. And as Jesus reclined in his house, his disciples also reclined with him, and many publicans and sinners: for they were many, and they followed him. The scribes and Pharisees, seeing that He was eating with tax collectors and sinners, said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" Hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who have need of a physician, but the sick; I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

In those days the disciples of John and the Pharisees fasted. They come to Jesus and say, "Why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridal chamber fast when the bridegroom is with them? As long as the bridegroom is with them, they cannot fast, but the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days. No one puts patches of unbleached fabric to old clothes: otherwise the newly sewn will tear off the old, and the hole will be even worse. No one pours new wine into old skins: otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine will leak out, and the skins will be lost; but new wine must be poured into new skins.

В те дни случилось Иисусу в субботу проходить засеянными полями, и ученики Его дорогою начали срывать колосья.

И пришел опять в синагогу; там был человек, имевший иссохшую руку. И наблюдали за Ним, не исцелит ли его в субботу, чтобы обвинить Его. Он же говорит человеку, имевшему иссохшую руку: стань на средину. А им говорит: должно ли в субботу добро делать, или зло делать? душу спасти, или погубить? Но они молчали. И, воззрев на них с гневом, скорбя об ожесточении сердец их, говорит тому человеку: протяни руку твою. Он протянул, и стала рука его здорова, как другая.
