Psalms-Psalter in translations (arrangements) in verse

I, all in Thy high power, ask Thou to shelter me

from all misfortunes and misfortunes in the shadow of Thy mighty wings.

Here the enemies hang over the soul, fattening and looking haughtily,

and, plotting to overthrow me, they hide like lions in ambush.

Arise, O Lord, against the wicked, and give them a warning;

and if they do not hearken, then slay them with Thy sword!

Thou dost drink and feed, O Creator, the one who has delved into Thy science,

And generously so that the son will have enough, there will still be enough for the grandson.

And I, communing with Thee in my soul, see the triumph of the Law

and I am daily satisfied with the sight of Thy countenance.

PSALM 17

Canonical Russian translation

1 To the head of the choir. David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord, when the Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul. And he said:

2 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength! 3 The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge, my Deliverer, my God, is my rock; in Him I trust; My shield, the horn of my salvation, and my refuge. 4 I will call on the worthy Lord, and I will be saved from my enemies. 5 The torments of death have seized me, and the streams of iniquity have terrified me; 6 The chains of hell have encircled me, and the snares of death have bound me. 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God. And he heard my voice from his palace, and my cry came to his ears. 8 The earth was shaken and shaken, and the foundations of the mountains were shaken and moved, for [God] was angry; 9 Smoke arose out of His wrath, and out of His mouth a consuming fire; hot coals poured down from Him. 10 And he bent down the heavens, and came down, and darkness was under his feet. 11 And he sat down on the cherubim, and flew, and was carried on the wings of the wind. 12 And he made darkness his covering, the darkness of the waters around him, clouds of the air. 13 From the splendor before him fled his clouds, hail, and coals of fire. 14 And the Lord roared in the heavens, and the Most High gave his voice, hail and coals of fire. 15 And he hath sent forth his arrows, and scattered them, and a multitude of lightnings, and scattered them. 16 And the fountains of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were made manifest by thy terrible voice, O Lord, by the breath of the spirit of thy wrath. 17 He stretched out his hand from on high, and took me, and drew me out of many waters; 18 He delivered me from my mighty enemy, and from them that hated me, who were stronger than I. 19 They rose up against me in the day of my affliction, but the Lord was my support. 20 He brought me out into a wide place, and delivered me, for he is well pleased with me. 21 The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanliness of my hands he has rewarded me, 22 for I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not been ungodly before my God. 23 For all his commandments are before me, and I have not departed from his statutes. 24 I was blameless before him, and took heed lest I should sin; 25 And the Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanliness of my hands in his sight. 26 Thou dost deal mercifully with the merciful, with the sincere man sincerely, 27 with the pure according to his wickedness, 28 for thou hast saved the oppressed, and hast humbled the haughty eyes. 29 Thou kindest my lamp, O Lord; My God enlightens my darkness. 30 With thee I smite the army, with my God I ascend the wall. E-31 God! "His way is blameless, the word of the Lord is pure; He is a shield for all who trust in Him. 32 For who is God but the Lord, and who is the protection but our God? 33 God girds me with strength, and makes me the right way; 34 He maketh my feet like deer's, and sets me up in my high places; 35 He teaches my hands to fight, and my arms break the bow of brass. 36 Thou hast given me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand upholds me, and thy mercy magnifies me. 37 Thou hast widened my pace under me, and my feet do not waver. 38 I pursue my enemies, and overtake them, and I do not return until I have destroyed them; 39 I smite them, and they cannot rise, they fall under my feet, 40 for thou hast girded me with strength for war, and hast brought down under my feet those who rise up against me; 41 Thou hast turned the rear of my enemies unto me, and I destroy them that hate me: 42 they cry out, but there is no one to save; to the Lord, but He hearkens not to them; 43 I scatter them as dust in the face of the wind, as the filth of the street I trample on them. 44 Thou hast delivered me from the rebellion of the people, and hast made me the head of the foreigners; a people whom I did not know serve me; 45 By the mere rumour of me they obey me; foreigners caress me before me; 46 The foreigners turn pale and tremble in their fortifications. 47 As the Lord lives, and blessed is my defender! May the God of my salvation be exalted, 48 the God who avenges me and subdues the nations to me, 49 and delivers me from my enemies! Thou hast exalted me above them that rise up against me, and hast delivered me from a cruel man. 50 Wherefore I will praise thee, O Lord, among the foreigners, and I will sing praises to thy name, 51 who magnificently saves the king, and bestows mercy on thy anointed David and his seed for ever.
