How to Read the Bible

Jairus the son of Manasseh took all the region of Arg, to the borders of Geshuri and Maacah, and called Bashan, after his name, the villages of Jairus, as to this day;

To Machir I have given Gilead;

And to the tribe of Reuben and to Gad he gave from Gilead to the brook of Arnon, the land between the brook and the border, to the brook of Jabok, the border of the children of Ammon,

And also the plain and the Jordan, which is also the boundary, from Kinnereth to the sea of the plain, the sea of salt, at the foot of Mount Pisgah to the east.

And I gave you at that time a commandment, saying, 'The Lord your God has given you this land for a possession; all ye that are capable of war, arming yourselves, go ahead of your brethren, the children of Israel;

Only your wives and your children and your cattle shall remain in your cities which I have given you,

until the LORD gives rest to your brethren like you, and until they also have possession of the land which the LORD your God is giving them beyond the Jordan. then return every man to his possession which I have given you.

And I commanded Jesus at that time, saying, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; the Lord will do the same with all the kingdoms that you will pass through;

Do not be afraid of them, for the LORD your God himself fights for you.

And I prayed to the Lord at that time, saying,

O Lord Lord, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy majesty and thy mighty hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth that can do such works as yours, and with power like yours?

let me go over and see that good land that is beyond the Jordan, and that beautiful mountain, and Lebanon.

But the Lord was angry with me for your sake, and did not listen to me, and the Lord said to me, It is enough for you, speak no more to me about these things;

Go up to the top of Pisgah, and look with your eyes to the sea, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east, and look with your eyes, for you will not pass over this Jordan.
