How to Read the Bible

18 And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts;

19 And he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, both men and women, one loaf of bread, and a piece of roast meat, and one cake to each. And all the people went, every man to his own house.

20 And when David returned to bless his house, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet him, and said, How the king of Israel distinguished himself this day, when he was naked this day before the eyes of the handmaidservants of his servants, how a vain man is naked.

21 And David said to Michal, 'In the sight of the Lord, who hath preferred me to thy father, and to all his house, having established me as the leader of the people of the Lord Israel; I will play and dance before the Lord;

22 And I shall be still more humble, and shall be made more insignificant in my sight, and in the sight of the handmaidens of whom thou speakest, I shall be glorified.

23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no children until the day of her death.

7 Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up, O everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall enter!

8 Who is this King of glory? "The Lord is mighty and mighty, Lord, mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up, O everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall enter!

10 Who is this King of glory? "The Lord of hosts, He is the king of glory.

8. The prophecy of Nathan. The Promise to the House of David (2 Samuel 7:8-17)

8 And now thus say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I have taken thee out of the flock of sheep, that thou mayest be the leader of my people Israel;

9 And I was with thee wherever thou went, and destroyed all thy enemies before thee, and made thy name great as the name of the great ones on earth.
