By water and blood and by the Spirit

39 Therefore they could not believe what Isaiah had said, 40 He had blinded their eyes, and made their hearts hard, lest they should see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and be converted. And I will heal them. 41 Isaiah said this, because he saw His glory and spoke of Him. 42 And many of the rulers also believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess, lest they should be excommunicated from the synagogue, 43 for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God. 44 And Jesus cried out and said, 'He who believes in me does not believe in me, but in him who sent me,45 and he who sees me sees him who sent me.' 46 I came into the world as a light, that no one who believes in Me should dwell in darkness. 47 And if anyone hears my words and does not keep it, I do not judge him, for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 For him who rejects Me and does not receive My words there is a judge: the word that I have spoken, it will judge him at the last day. 49 For I have not spoken of myself, but the Father who sent me has given me a commandment what I shall say and what I shall speak. 50 And I know that His commandment is eternal life. Therefore what I say, as the Father told me, so do I speak.

1 And before the feast of the Passover, knowing that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father, Jesus, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end. 2 And at the time of supper, when the devil had already planted in the heart of Judas Iscariot of Simon the intention of betraying him, 3 he, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hand, and that he had come from God, and was coming to God, 4 arose from the supper, and took off his garments. And taking a towel, He girded Himself. 5 Then he pours water into the washbasin. And he began to wash the feet of the disciples and wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. 6 So he came to Simon Peter, and he said to him, 'Lord, do you wash my feet?' 7 Jesus answered and said to him, 'What I am doing, you do not know now, but you will understand later.' 8 Peter said to him, 'You will never wash my feet.' Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me." 9 And Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head. 10 Jesus said to him, 'He who has been washed has no need to wash, except his feet, but he is completely clean; and you are pure, but not all. 11 For he knew him that betrayed him; therefore He said, "Not all of you are pure." 12 And when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, Ok said to them, 'Do you know what I have done to you?' 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly speaking. For I am indeed the Teacher and the Lord. E-14 Therefore if I have washed your feet, I, the Lord and Teacher, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that as I have done unto you, ye also should do. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, A servant is not greater than his master, and a messenger is not greater than he that sent him. E-17 If you know this, blessed are you when you do this. 18 I do not say of all of you, I know whom I have chosen. But let the Scripture be fulfilled: He that eateth bread with me lifted up his heel against me. 19 I say these things to you now, before it came to pass, that you might believe when it be fulfilled that I am. 20 Verily, verily, I say to you, if I send anyone, he who receives him receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 21 And when Jesus had said this, he was overcome with a stirring in the spirit, and testified, and said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, one of you shall betray me." 22 And the disciples looked at one another, wondering of whom he spoke. 23 And one of his disciples reclined at the breast of Jesus, he whom Jesus loved. 24 And Simon Peter made a sign unto him, saying, Tell me who

Who is He talking about? 25 And he fell down on the bosom of Jesus, and said to him, 'Lord, who is this? 26 Jesus answered, "He to whom I dip and give this piece." Having dipped a piece, He takes and gives it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. E-27 And then, after that piece, Satan came into him. Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly." 28 But none of those who sat at table understood why He had said these things to him. 29 For some thought, because Judas had a money-chest, that Jesus said to him, "Buy what we need for the Feast, or give something to the poor." 30 Taking a piece, he went out straightway. It was night. 31 So when he went out, Jesus said, 'Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.' 32 If God is glorified in Him, God also will glorify Him in Himself, and immediately glorify Him. 35 My children, I am with you a little longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, Whither I am going, you cannot go, so I say to you now. 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another. As I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. 36 Simon Peter said to him, 'Lord, where are you going?' Jesus answered Him, "Where I am going, you cannot now follow Me, but you will follow Me afterwards." 37 Peter said to him, "Lord, why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life for Thee. 38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?" Verily, verily, I say unto thee, A shall not crow until thou hast denied Me three times.

1 Let not your heart be troubled: believe on God, and believe on me. 2 In My Father's house there are many mansions. And if it were not, would I have said to you, I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to Myself, that where I am, you also may be. 4 And whither I am going, you know; And you know the way. 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; How do we know the way? 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. And from now on you know Him and have seen Him. 8 Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that is enough for us," 9 Jesus said to him, "How long have I been with you, and you have not known me, Philip?" Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How then do you say: show us the Father? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you, I do not say of myself: The Father who dwells in Me does His works, and believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me. If not, believe in the deeds themselves. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me shall do the works which I do, and greater than these, because I go to the Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and another Comforter,117 who will give you to be with you forever, 17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him and does not know him; but you know Him, because He is with you, and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see Me, because I live, and you will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, is he that loveth me. But he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him. 22 Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him, 'Lord, what is this, that you want to show yourself to us, and not to the world?' 23 Jesus answered and said to him, 'If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.' 24 He that loveth not me keepeth not my words. And the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father who sent me. 25 This I have told you, being with you. 26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give

unto you, Not as the world giveth I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, and let it not be timid. 28 You have heard that I said to you, 'I am going and will come to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I go to the Father, because the Father is greater than Me. 29 And now I told you before it came to pass, that when it came to pass, you would believe. 30 I will speak much more to you, for the prince of peace is coming, and in me he has nothing. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, I do so: arise, let us go hence.

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch on me that does not bear fruit he removes, and every branch that bears fruit he cleanses, that it may bear greater fruit. 3 Ye are already pure through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I abide in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit of its own accord unless it abides on the vine, so can ye not bear fruit unless ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit, because without Me you can do nothing. 6 If any man abide not in me, he is cast out like a branch, and is withered. and they gather them together, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 In this is the glory of my Father, that you should bear much fruit, and become my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, and I have loved you: abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends, if you do what I command you. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you, and ordained you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatsoever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 This is what I command you, that you love one another. 18 If the world hates you, know that it hated me before you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. And because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word which I have spoken to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also; if they have kept my word, yours will also be kept. 21 But all these things will be done to you for my name's sake, because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done works among them that no one else had done, they would have had no sin; but now they have seen and hated me and my Father. 25 But let the word written in their law be fulfilled: They hated me without a cause. 26 When the Comforter comes, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness to Me. 27 But ye also bear witness, for from the beginning ye have been with me.

1 This I have told you, that you may not be led into temptation. 2 They shall excommunicate you from the synagogues; but the hour is coming when anyone who kills you will think that he is serving God. 3 And this they will do, because they have not known the Father or Me. 4 But this I have told you, that you may remember when the hour comes, that I have told you about it. And I did not tell you this at first, because I was with you. 5 But now I go to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' 6 But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not depart, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will reveal to the world

his error about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about the sin that they do not believe in me; 10 But of righteousness, that I go to the Father, and see me no more; and of judgment, that the prince of this world is condemned. 12 Yet I have many things to tell you, but now you are not able. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will lead you into all truth, for he will not speak of himself, but will speak what he hears, and he will declare things to come to you. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take of mine, and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine. Therefore I have said that He takes from Me and will declare it to you. 16 It is not long and you see me no more; and again for a short time, and you will see Me. 17 And some of the disciples said to one another, 'Why is it that he says to us, 'Not long yet, and you do not see me.' and again a little while, and you will see Me; and: Am I going to the Father? 18 And so they said, 'What is this, that He says, 'Not long?' We don't know what He says. 19 And when Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, he said to them, 'Do you reason with one another, because I said, 'Not long yet, and you do not see me.' and again a short time, and you will see Me? 20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye shall weep and weep, but the world shall rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. 21 A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when he gives birth to a child, he no longer remembers the sorrow of joy that a man has been born into the world. 22 And now you have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you. E-23 And in that day you won't ask Me anything. Verily, verily, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything, he will give it to you in my name. 24 Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. 25 It is I who said to you in parables, 'The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but will declare the Father openly to you.' 26 In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will pray to the Father for you. 27 For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I have come from God. 28 He went forth from the Father, and came into the world; again I leave the world and go to the Father. 29 His disciples say, 'Behold, now thou speakest openly, and speakest no parable.' 30 Now we know that Thou knowest all things, and have no need that any one should inquire of Thee. Therefore, we believe that You came from God. 31 Jesus answered them, 'Do you believe now?' 32 Behold, the hour is coming, and it has come that ye shall be scattered, every man unto himself, and ye shall leave me alone; but I am not alone, for the Father is with Me. 35 These things have I told you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.
