A COLLECTION OF EPISTLES

21 In the same way we are now saved by baptism like unto this image, not washing away from the uncleanness of the flesh, but by the promise of a good conscience to God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

22 Who, having ascended into heaven, dwelleth at the right hand of God, and to whom the angels, and powers, and powers, have submitted.

1 Therefore, as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same thought; for he who suffers in the flesh ceases to sin;

2 that the rest of the time in the flesh may no longer live according to the lusts of men, but according to the will of God.

3 For it is sufficient that in the past time of life ye have walked according to the will of the heathen, giving yourselves up to uncleanness, lusts (sodomy, bestiality, thoughts), drunkenness, excess in food and drink, and foolish idolatry;

4 Wherefore they are amazed that ye do not partake of the same debauchery with them, and curse you.

5 They will give an answer to Him who is soon to judge the living and the dead.

6 For for this reason also the gospel was preached to the dead, that they, having been judged according to man in the flesh, should live according to God in the spirit.

7 However, the end of everything is near. Therefore, be prudent and watch in your prayers.

8 Above all, have fervent love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.

9 Love strangers to one another without murmuring.

10 Serve one another, each one with the gift which he has received, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If any man speak, let him speak as the words of God; if any man serve, let him serve according to the power which God gives, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12 Beloved! Do not shun the fiery temptation sent to you to test you, as a strange adventure for you,

13 but as ye share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that ye also may rejoice and triumph in the appearing of his glory.

14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, rests upon you. By them He is blasphemed, but by you He is glorified.

15 That any of you may not suffer, as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a trespasser of another's things;
