A COLLECTION OF EPISTLES

9 Love strangers to one another without murmuring.

10 Serve one another, each one with the gift which he has received, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If any man speak, let him speak as the words of God; if any man serve, let him serve according to the power which God gives, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12 Beloved! Do not shun the fiery temptation sent to you to test you, as a strange adventure for you,

13 but as ye share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that ye also may rejoice and triumph in the appearing of his glory.

14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, rests upon you. By them He is blasphemed, but by you He is glorified.

15 That any of you may not suffer, as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a trespasser of another's things;

16 and if you are a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God for such a fate.

17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the house of God; but if it begins with us first, what is the end of those who disobey the Gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous are scarcely saved, where shall the wicked and the sinner appear?

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him, as to the faithful Creator, doing good.

1 To your shepherds I beseech you, a co-shepherd and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker in the glory which is to be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, watching over it, not under compulsion, but willingly, and pleasing to God, not for abominable gain, but out of diligence,

3 and not having dominion over the inheritance of God, but setting an example for the flock;

4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, ye shall receive a crown of glory that does not fade.

5 Likewise, the younger ones, obey the shepherds; nevertheless, in submission to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
