Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

And when thou hast tilled the earth, it shall no more give its strength unto thee; you will be an exile and a wanderer on earth.

And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear;

Behold, thou hast now driven me out of the face of the earth, and from thy presence I shall be hidden, and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth; and whosoever shall meet me shall slay me.

And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain shall be avenged with all his might. And the Lord [God] made a sign unto Cain, that no man should meet him and kill him.

And Cain departed from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city; and he called the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

And Enoch begat Irad [Haidad]; Irad begat Mechiael [Mahalaleel]; Mechiael begat Methuselah; Methuselah begat Lamech.

And Lamech took to himself two wives, the name of the one was Ada, and the name of the other was Zillah.

And Adah begat Jabal: he was the father of those who dwell in tents with flocks.

And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all those who play the harp and the flute.

And Zilla also begat Tubal-Cain, who was a smith of all instruments of brass and iron. And Noahah, the sister of Tubal-Cain.

And Lamech said to his wives, 'Adah and Zillah! Listen to my voice; the wives of the Lamechs! Give heed to my words: I have killed a man to my wound, and a child to my wound;

If Cain be avenged sevenfold, then Lamech seventy times sevenfold.

And Adam also knew his wife, and she bore a son, and called his name Seth, because, she said, God has given me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain had killed.
