Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

17 In the upper basket are all the food of Pharaoh, the goods of the baker, and the birds [of the air] pecked them out of the basket on my head.

18 And Joseph answered, and said to him, 'This is his interpretation: the three baskets are three days;

19 In three days Pharaoh will take off your head and hang you on a tree, and the birds will peck at your flesh.

20 And on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and remembered the chief cupbearer and the chief baker among his servants;

21 And he restored the chief cupbearer to his former place, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand,

22 And he hanged the chief baker [on a tree], as Joseph had explained to them.

23 And the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

Chapter 41

1 And it came to pass, after two years, that Pharaoh dreamed, Behold, he was standing by the river;

2 And behold, seven cows came out of the river, good in appearance, and fat in flesh, and were grazing in the reeds;

3 but behold, after them, seven other cows came out of the river, thin in appearance and lean in flesh, and stood beside those cows on the bank of the river;

4 And the cows that were lean in appearance and lean in flesh ate seven cows, good in appearance and fat. And Pharaoh woke up,

5 And he fell asleep again, and another time he dreamed, Behold, on one stalk there sprang up seven ears of corn, fat and good;

6 But behold, after them grew seven ears of corn, lean and parched by the east wind;

7 And the lean ears devoured seven ears of corn, fat and full. And Pharaoh woke up and realized that it was a dream.

8 In the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent, and called all the wise men of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof, and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was no one to interpret it to Pharaoh.

9 And the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, and said, 'I remember my sins this day;

10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and gave me and the chief baker into custody in the house of the captain of the bodyguard.

11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, he and I, each had a dream of special significance;

12 and there was with us a young Jew, the servant of the captain of the guard; We told him our dreams, and he interpreted each of us according to his dream;

13 And as he interpreted unto us, so it came to pass: I am restored to my place, and he is hanged.
