And Jacob said unto Joseph, The Almighty God hath appeared unto me in Lusa, in the land of Canaan, and hath blessed me,

And he said unto me, Behold, I will spread thee, and multiply thee, and will make of thee a multitude of nations, and I will give this land to thy seed after thee, for an everlasting possession.

And now thy two sons, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt, before I came unto thee in Egypt, they are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, like Reuben and Simeon, shall be mine;

And thy children, which shall be born of thee after them, shall be thine; they shall be called by the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

And it came to pass, as I was going out of Mesopotamia, that Rachel died among me in the land of Canaan, on the way, a little before Ephrathah, and I buried her there on the road to Ephrathah, which is now Bethlehem.

And Israel saw the sons of Joseph, and said, Who are these?

And Joseph said to his father, 'These are my sons, whom God has given me here.' [Jacob] said, "Bring them to me, and I will bless them."

And the eyes of Israel are dull because of old age; he could not see clearly. Joseph led them to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.

And Israel said to Joseph, 'I did not hope to see your face; but behold, God has shown me also thy children.

And Joseph led them away from his knees, and bowed down to him with his face to the ground.

And Joseph took both [his sons], Ephraim in his right hand against the left of Israel, and Manasseh in his left hand against the right of Israel, and brought him to him.

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon the head of Ephraim, though he was the youngest, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh. With the intention he laid down his hands in this way, although Manasseh was the firstborn.

And he blessed Joseph, and said, 'The God with whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has shepherded me from the time that I exist until this day,

The angel who delivereth me from all evil, may he bless these young men; my name and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac shall be called upon them, and they may grow in great numbers in the midst of the earth.
