15 And when he saw that peace was good, and that the land was pleasant, he bowed his shoulders to bear the burden, and labored for the payment of tribute.

16 Dan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel;

17 Dan shall be a serpent in the way, an adder in the way, biting the horse's foot, so that his rider shall fall backwards.

18 I trust in thy help, O Lord!

19 Gad, the crowd will press him, but he will push them at their heels.

20 For Asher, his bread is too thick, and he will bring in the king's viands.

21 Naphtali is a tall terebinth, spreading beautiful branches. [7]

22 Joseph is the branch of the fruit-bearing tree, the branch of the fruit-bearing tree over the spring; its branches stretch out over the wall;

23 And the archers grieved him, and shot and fought against him,

24 but his bow is strong, and the muscles of his hands are strong, from the hands of the mighty God of Jacob. From thence is the Shepherd and the stronghold of Israel,

25 from God thy father, who also help thee, and from the Almighty, who also bless thee with the blessings of heaven from above, the blessings of the deep that lies ahead, the blessings of the breasts and the womb,

26 the blessings of thy Father, which exceed the blessings of the ancient mountains, and the sweetness of the everlasting hills; let them be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of the chosen one among his brethren.

27 Benjamin, the ravenous wolf, will eat the catch in the morning, and in the evening he will divide the spoil.

28 These are all the twelve tribes of Israel; And this is what their father said to them; and blessed them, and gave them a blessing, to each his own.

29 And he commanded them, and said to them, 'I am added to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave which is in the field of Ephron the Hittite;

30 In the cave which is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for burial property;

31 Abraham and Sarah his wife were buried there; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah;

32 This field, and the cave that is in it, was bought from the children of the Hittites.

33 And Jacob finished his testament to his sons, and laid his feet on the bed, and died, and was gathered to his people.

Chapter 50

1 Joseph fell on his father's face, and wept over him, and kissed him.
