Chapter 10

Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son pleases his father, but a foolish son is a grief for his mother.

Unrighteous treasures are of no avail, but righteousness delivereth from death.

The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to suffer hunger, but he will cast out the gain of the wicked.

A slothful hand maketh the poor, but the hand of the diligent makes them rich.

He that gathereth in the season of summer is a son of understanding, but he that sleepeth in the time of harvest is a son of dissoluteness.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence shall stop the mouth of the wicked.

The memory of the righteous shall be blessed, but the name of the wicked shall be abhorred.

A wise man in heart receiveth the commandments, but a fool shall stumble with his lips.

He that walketh in blamelessness, walketh safely; but whoever turns his ways will be punished.

He who blinks his eyes causes vex, but he who is foolish will stumble with his lips.

The mouth of the righteous is the fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked will stop violence.

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.

In the mouth of a prudent man is wisdom, but in the body of a fool is the rod.

The wise keep knowledge, but the mouth of a fool is near destruction.

The goods of the rich are his strong city, but the trouble of the poor is their poverty.

The labor of the righteous leads to life, the success of the wicked to sin.

He who keeps instruction is on the way to life; but he who rejects reproof wanders.

He that hideth hatred hath a lying mouth; and whoever divulges slander is a fool.

With much talk sin cannot escape, but he who restrains his mouth is wise.

The choice silver is the tongue of the righteous, but the heart of the wicked is nothing.
