And at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in prison, and all the firstlings of the cattle.

And Pharaoh arose in the night himself, and all his servants, and all Egypt; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not a dead man.

And [Pharaoh] called Moses and Aaron by night, and said to [them], 'Arise, come out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel, and go and serve the LORD [your God], as you have said;

And you shall take your flocks and herds, as you have said; and go and bless me.

And the Egyptians compelled the people, that they might quickly drive them out of that land; for they said, We shall all die.

And the people carried their dough before it was leavened; their kneaders tied in their garments were on their shoulders.

And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses, and asked of the Egyptians things of silver, and things of gold, and garments.

And the Lord gave mercy to his people in the sight of the Egyptians: and they gave him, and he robbed the Egyptians.

And the children of Israel departed from Ramesses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides the children;

And a multitude of men of various races went out with them, and flocks and herds, a very large herd.

And they baked unleavened cakes out of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt, for it had not yet soured, because they had been driven out of Egypt, and could not tarry, and had not even prepared food for their journey.

And the time in which the children of Israel dwelt in Egypt [and in the land of Canaan] was four hundred and thirty years.

And it came to pass, after four hundred and thirty years, that very day that all the army of the Lord went out of the land of Egypt by night.

This is the night of vigil unto the Lord, for their deliverance out of the land of Egypt; this very night is the vigil of the Lord for all the children of Israel throughout their generations.
