Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

12 Thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all things that open the couch; And all the firstlings of the cattle that thou shalt have, of the male sex, thou shalt dedicate to the Lord;

13 and every one of the donkeys that opens [the womb], you shall replace it with a lamb; and if you do not replace it, redeem it; and thou shalt redeem every firstborn of man among thy sons.

14 And when afterwards thy son shall ask thee, saying, 'What is this?' then say to him, With a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

15 For when Pharaoh persisted in letting us go, the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of the cattle.

16 And let it be a sign on thy hand, and instead of a bandage over thy eyes, for with a mighty hand the Lord brought us up out of Egypt.

17 And when Pharaoh had sent the people away, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, because it was near; For God said, "Lest the people repent when they see the war, and return to Egypt."

18 And God led the people by the wilderness road to the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went out armed out of the land of Egypt.

19 And Moses took Joseph's bones with him, for he had sworn an oath to the children of Israel, saying, 'God will visit you, and you shall bring my bones out of here with you.'

20 And they went out of Succoth, and encamped at Etham, at the end of the wilderness.

21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, showing them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, giving light to them, that they might go day and night.

22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from the presence of the people.

Chapter 14

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, and between Migdol, and between the sea, before Baal-zephon; Set up a camp by the sea opposite it.
