15 Six days they shall do works, and on the seventh a Sabbath of rest, which is consecrated to the Lord: whosoever does work on the sabbath day, let him be put to death.

16 And the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, keeping the sabbath throughout their generations, as an everlasting covenant.

17 This is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord created the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and rested.

18 And when [God] had ceased to speak to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him two tablets of revelation, tables of stone, on which was written with the finger of God.

Chapter 32

1 And when the people saw that Moses had not come down from the mountain for a long time, they gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said unto him, Arise, and make us a god to go before us: for with this man, Moses, who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened.

2 And Aaron said to them, 'Take out the gold earrings that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.'

3 And all the people took the gold earrings out of their ears, and brought them to Aaron.

4 And he took them out of their hands, and made of them a cast calf, and made it with a chisel. And they said, Behold thy god, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

5 And when Aaron saw this, he set an altar before him, and cried out to Aaron, saying, "Tomorrow is the feast of the Lord."

6 And on the morrow they arose early, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace-offerings: and the people sat down to eat and drink, and afterwards arose to play.

7 And the Lord said to Moses, 'Hasten to come down [from here], for your people are corrupted, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt;

8 And they soon turned away from the way which I had commanded them, and made themselves a cast calf, and worshipped it, and offered sacrifices to it, and said, Behold thy god, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

9 And the Lord said to Moses, 'I see this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people;
