Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

And they clothed him in a scarlet robe, and wove a crown of thorns, and laid it upon him;

And they began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

And they smote him on the head with a reed, and spit on him, and kneeling down, they bowed down to him.

And when they mocked him, they took off his scarlet robe, and clothed him in his own garments, and led him away to crucify him.

And they made a certain Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, coming from the field, passing by, to bear his cross.

And they brought him to the place of Golgotha, which means, the place of the skull.

And they gave him wine to drink with myrrh; but He did not accept.

And they that crucified him divided his garments, casting lots to see who should take what.

It was the third hour, and they crucified him.

And the inscription of his guilt was, King of the Jews.

Two thieves were crucified with him, one on his right hand and the other on his left.

And the word of the Scripture was fulfilled, and he was numbered with the transgressors.

Those who passed by cursed Him, nodding their heads, and saying, Ah! Who destroys the temple, and builds it in three days!

Save thyself and come down from the cross.

Likewise, the chief priests and the scribes mocked each other, saying to one another, 'He has saved others, but he cannot save himself.'

Let Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see, and believe. And those who were crucified with Him reproached Him.

And in the sixth hour darkness came over all the earth, and lasted until the ninth hour.

At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi! Eloi! Lamma Savakhfani? – what does it mean: My God! My god! why hast thou forsaken me?

And some of those who stood there heard, saying, 'Behold, Elijah is calling.'

And one of them ran, and filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink, saying, 'Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to take him off.'

And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up his spirit.
