And Abram was very rich in cattle, and in silver, and in gold.

And he continued his journeys from the south to Bethel, to the place where his tent had formerly been between Bethel and Ai,

to the place of the altar which he made there at the beginning; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

And the land was not sufficient for them to dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.

And there was a dispute between the shepherds of Abram's cattle, and between the shepherds of Lot's cattle; and the Canaanites and Perizzites dwelt in the land at that time.

And Lot chose for himself all the country round about the Jordan; and Lot moved eastward. And they separated from each other.

And Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan; and Lot dwelt in the cities of the surrounding country, and pitched his tents as far as Sodom.

And the inhabitants of Sodom were wicked, and exceedingly sinful in the sight of the Lord.

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, 'Lift up thine eyes, and from the place where thou art now, look to the north and to the south, and to the east and to the west;

For all the land which thou seest I will give thee, and to thy seed for ever,
