Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

And the victors took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their stock, and departed.

And they took Lot, Abram's nephew, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

And one of the survivors came and informed Abram the Jew, who was then living by the oak grove of Mamre, the Amorite, the brother of Eshkol and the brother of Aneru, who were the allies of Abram.

And when Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he armed his servants, who were born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued the enemy as far as Dan.

And he was divided, and fell upon them by night, himself and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is on the left side of Damascus;

And he restored all the goods, and Lot his kinsman, and his goods, and also the women and the people.

And when he was returning from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the valley of Shaveh, which is now the valley of the king;

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine, he was a priest of the Most High God,

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram from the Most High God, the Lord of heaven and earth;

And blessed be the Most High God, who has delivered thy enemies into thy hand. [Abram] gave him a tenth of everything.

And the king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people, and take the goods for yourself.'

And Abram said unto the king of Sodom, I lift up my hand unto the Lord God Most High, the Lord of heaven and earth,

that I will not take even a thread or a shoe strap out of all thy things, lest thou say, I have made Abram rich;

except what the young men have eaten, and besides the portion belonging to the people who walked with me; Ahner, Eshkol and Mamrius should take their share.
