17 And Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said to himself, Shall there be a son of a hundred years old? and Sarah, who is ninety years old, will she give birth?

18 And Abraham said to God, 'Oh, that Ishmael may be alive before you!'

19 And God said to [Abraham], 'It is Sarah your wife who will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will make my covenant with him an everlasting covenant [in this, that I will be God unto him, and] to his descendants after him.

20 And concerning Ishmael I have heard thee: Behold, I will bless him, and I will bring him up, and I will multiply him greatly; twelve princes will be born of him; and I will make of him a great nation.

21 But I will make my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear thee at this very time another year.

22 And God stopped speaking to Abraham and went up from him.

23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with their money, all the males of the people of Abraham's house; And he circumcised their foreskin on the very day that God had spoken to him.

24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when his foreskin was circumcised.

25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when his foreskin was circumcised.

26 On the same day Abraham and Ishmael his son were circumcised,

27 And with him was circumcised all the males of his house, which were born in the house, and were bought with money of the foreigners.

Chapter 18

1 And the Lord appeared to him by the oak grove of Mamre, as he sat at the entrance of his tent, in the heat of the day.

2 And he lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, three men stood against him. And when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the entrance of his tent, and bowed down to the ground;
