Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

13 And Jesus, being near Jericho, looked, and saw, and behold, a man stood before him, with a drawn sword in his hand. And Jesus came to him, and said unto him, Are thou ours, or of our enemies?

14 He said, "No; I am the captain of the army of the Lord, and now I have come [here]. And Jesus fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down to him, and said unto him, What shall my lord say unto his servant?

15 And the captain of the army of the Lord said unto Joshua, Take off thy shoes from thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy. Jesus did so.

16 Jericho was shut up, and was shut up because of the fear of the children of Israel: no one went out [out of it], and no one went in.

Chapter 6

1 Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'Behold, I deliver into your hand Jericho and its king, and mighty men who are in it;

2 Go round about the city, all ye that are capable of war, and go round the city once [a day]; and this thou shalt do six days;

3 And the seven priests shall bear the seven trumpets of jubilee before the ark; And on the seventh day ye shall go round about the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets;

4 When the horn of jubilee blows, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then let all the people shout with a loud voice, and the wall of the city will come down to its foundations, and the people will go from their own side.

5 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Bring the ark of the covenant; and the seven priests shall bear the seven trumpets of jubilee before the ark of the Lord.

6 And he said to the people, 'Go and go round about the city; and let those who are armed go before the ark of the Lord.

7 And when Jesus had spoken unto the multitude, the seven priests, who were bearing the seven trumpets of jubilee before the Lord, went forth and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went after them;

8 And the armed ones went before the priests, who blew the trumpets; and those who went behind followed the ark [of the covenant of the Lord], blowing the trumpets as they marched.

9 And Jesus commanded the people, and said, 'Shout not, nor let your voice be heard, and let not the word go out of your mouth until that day, until I say to you, 'Shout!' and then cry out.
