(Matt. 26:75): "And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had spoken to him, 'Before the crows, thou shalt deny Me three times. And when he went out, he wept bitterly."

(2 Corinthians 7:6-7): "But God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the arrival of Titus, and not only by his arrival, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted for you, telling us of your zeal, of your weeping, of your zeal for me." And soon afterwards (11): "For the very fact that you were grieved for God's sake, see what diligence has produced in you, what apologies, what indignation against the guilty, what fear, what desire, what jealousy, what chastisement! In all things you have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter."

(Acts 19:18-19): "And many of those who believed came, confessing and revealing their works. And of those who practiced sorcery, quite a few gathered up their books and burned them in front of everyone."

Chapter 4. For those who repent, it is not enough for salvation to turn away from sins, but they also need fruits worthy of repentance.

(Matt. 3:7-10): "And when John saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to him to be baptized, he said to them, 'Offspring of vipers! Who inspired you to flee from the wrath to come? Make therefore the worthy fruit of repentance, and do not think to say in yourselves, 'Our father is Abraham,' for I say to you, God is able to raise up children for Abraham out of these stones. Already the axe lies at the root of the trees: every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."

Chapter 5. After departing from this life, there is no longer time for good works, because God, in His long-suffering, has appointed the time of the present life for doing what is necessary to please God.

(Matt. 25:1-12): "Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like unto the ten virgins, who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom. Of these, five were wise and five were foolish. The foolish took their lamps, and did not take oil with them. And the wise ones, together with their lamps, took the oil in their vessels. And when the bridegroom tarried, they all dozed off and fell asleep. But at midnight there was a cry: "Behold, the bridegroom is coming, come out to meet him." Then all the virgins arose, and straightened their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us your oil, for our lamps are going out. And the wise answered, "In order that there may be no shortage both among us and among you, it is better to go to those who sell and buy for yourselves." And when they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him to the wedding feast, and the doors were shut. then the other virgins come and say: Lord! God! open to us. And he answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

(Luke 13:24-25): "Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for, I say to you, many will seek to enter in, and will not be able. When the master of the house gets up and shuts the doors, then you, standing outside, will knock at the door and say: Lord! God! open unto us; but He will answer and say to you, I do not know where you come from."

(2 Corinthians 6:2-4): "Behold, now is the time of favor, behold, now is the day of salvation. We do not stumble to anyone in anything, so that the ministry is not blamed, but in everything we show ourselves as servants of God."

(Gal. 6:10): "Therefore, while there is time, let us do good to all."

Rule 2: That the diligence of those who wish to please God should be unrelated to nothing contrary and pure
