Antiphons

Antiphons at the Liturgy are of three kinds: festal, pictorial, and everyday (weekday). Which of them are sung is determined for each day by the Church Ustav. Festive antiphons are sung on the feasts of the Lord, with the exception of the Meeting of the Lord (festive antiphons on the Sunday of Vai, on Pascha, on the Ascension and on the Day of the Holy Trinity are given in the chapter "Hymns from the services of the Colored Triodion").

Daily antiphons are supposed to be sung on weekdays. Most often on Sundays and feast days, pictorial antiphons are sung (Psalms 102:145 and Blessed – Matt. 5:3-12)

First Antiphon

1. Bless the Lord, O my soul. Blessed art Thou, O Lord. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me is His holy Name.

2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His rewards.

1. Who cleanses all thy iniquities, healeth all thy infirmities.

2. Who delivereth thy life from corruption, Who crowneth thee with mercy and bounty.

1. Who fulfills thy desire for good: thy youth shall be renewed like an eagle.

2. Творяй милостыни Господь, и судьбу всем обидимым.

1. Сказа пути Своя Моисеови, сыновом Израилевым хотения Своя.

2. Щедр и милостив Господь, долготерпелив и многомилостив.

1. Не до конца прогневается, ниже в век враждует.

2. Не по беззаконием нашим сотворил есть нам, ниже по грехом нашим воздал есть нам.

1. Яко по высоте небесней от земли, утвердил есть Господь милость Свою на боящихся Его.

2. Елико отстоят востоцы от запад, удалил есть от нас беззакония наша.

1. Якоже щедрит отец сыны, ущедри Господь боящихся Его.

2. Яко Той позна создание наше, помяну, яко персть есмы.

1. Человек, яко трава дние его, яко цвет сельный, тако оцветет.

2. Яко дух пройде в нем, и не будет, и не познает ктому места своего.

1. Милость же Господня от века и до века на боящихся Его.
