15 Jesus was followed by Simon Peter and another disciple; and this disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the court of the high priest.  E-16 And Peter was standing outside outside the doors. Then another disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out, and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.  17 Then the servant's doorkeeper said to Peter, 'Are you not one of the disciples of this man?' He said, "No."  18 And the servants, having made a fire, because it was cold, stood and warmed themselves. Peter also stood with them and warmed himself.

     19 And the high priest inquired of Jesus concerning his disciples, and of his doctrine.  20 Jesus answered him, "I have spoken plainly to the world; I have always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and I have said nothing in secret.  21 Why do you ask me? ask those who heard what I said to them; behold, they know what I have spoken.  22 And when he had said these things, one of the ministers, who was standing near, smote Jesus on the cheek, saying, 'Is this how thou answerest the high priest?'  23 Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, show me what is evil; and if it is good, why do you strike me?  24 Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

     25 And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Then they said to him, "Are you not one of His disciples?" He denied and said, "No."  26 One of the servants of the high priests, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, 'Did I not see you with him in the garden?'  27 Peter denied again; And immediately a rooster crowed.  28 From Caiaphas they led Jesus to the praetorium. It was morning; And they did not enter the praetorium, so as not to be defiled, but so that they might eat the Passover.  29 Pilate went out to them and said, 'What do you accuse this man of?'  30 And they answered and said to him, 'If he had not been evildoer, we would not have delivered him up to you.'  31 Pilate said to them, 'Take him, and judge him according to your law.' And the Jews said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death;

     32 That the word of Jesus may be fulfilled, which he spoke, giving to understand by what death he would die.  33 Then Pilate went back into the praetorium, and called Jesus, and said to him, 'Are you the King of the Jews?'  34 Jesus answered him, 'Do you say these things of your own accord, or have others told you about me?'  35 Pilate answered, 'Am I a Jew?' Thy people and chief priests have delivered thee unto me; what have you done?  36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight for Me, that I should not be delivered up to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.  37 Pilate said to him, "Are you therefore a King?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am the King." For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth; whosoever is of the truth heareth my voice.  38 Pilate said to him, 'What is truth?' And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find no fault in him.  39 And it is your custom that I let you go alone at the Passover; Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?  40 Then they all cried out again, saying, 'Not Him, but Barabbas.' Barabbas was a robber.

     1 Then Pilate took Jesus, and commanded him to be beaten.  2 And the soldiers, having wove a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and clothed him in scarlet, 3 and said, 'Rejoice, King of the Jews!' and they smote him on the cheeks.  4 Pilate went out again and said to them, 'Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in him.'  5 Then Jesus went out with a crown of thorns and a scarlet robe. And Pilate said to them, Behold, Man!  6 And when the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, 'Crucify him, crucify him!' Pilate said to them, "Take Him, and crucify Him; for I find no fault in him.  7 And the Jews answered him, 'We have the law, and according to our law he must die, because he made himself the Son of God.'  8 When Pilate heard this word, he was more afraid.  9 And he went into the praetorium again, and said to Jesus, 'Where are you from?' But Jesus did not give him an answer.  10 Pilate said to him, 'Do you not answer me?' Do you not know that I have power to crucify you, and have power to let you go?  11 Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over me, unless it had been given to you from above; therefore greater sin is on him who delivered me to you.  12 From that time on, Pilate sought to let him go. And the Jews cried out, "If thou wilt let Him go, thou art no friend of Caesar; Everyone who makes himself a king is an opponent of Caesar.  13 When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat, in a place called Lythostroton, which in Hebrew was Gabbatha.  14 Then was the Friday before the Passover, and the sixth hour. And Pilate said to the Jews, Behold, your King!  15 But they cried out, 'Take, take, crucify him!' Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your king? And the chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

     E-16 Then at last he delivered Him up to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus and led him away.  17 And bearing his cross, he went out to a place called Skull, in Hebrew Golgotha;  18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, on both sides, and in the midst of Jesus.  19 And Pilate also wrote the inscription, and set it on the cross. And it was written, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.  20 This inscription was read by many of the Jews, because the place where Jesus was crucified was not far from the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, Roman.  21 And the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, 'Do not write, 'King of the Jews,' but that he said, 'I am the King of the Jews.'  22 Pilate answered, 'What I have written, I have written.'  23 And the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and divided them into four parts, to each soldier a part, and a tunic; The tunic was not sewn, but all woven on top.  24 Therefore they said to one another, 'Let us not tear him asunder, but let us cast lots for him, whose it will be, that it may be fulfilled which is spoken in the Scriptures: They have divided my garments among themselves, and have cast lots for my garments.' This is what the soldiers did.  25 Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.  26 And when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple standing there, whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman! Behold, thy son.  27 Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, thy mother! And from that time this disciple took Her to himself.

     28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were already finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, 'I thirst.'  29 There was a vessel full of vinegar. The soldiers, having drunk a sponge with vinegar and put it on hyssop, brought it to His lips.  30 And when Jesus had tasted the vinegar, he said, 'It is finished!' And bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.

     31 But since it was Friday then, the Jews, in order not to leave the bodies on the cross on the Sabbath, for that was a great day, asked Pilate to break their legs and take them off.  32 So the soldiers came, and they broke the legs of the first, and the other who was crucified with him.  33 But when they came to Jesus, when they saw him already dead, they did not break his legs, 34 but one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.  35 And he that hath seen hath testified, and his testimony is true; He knows that he speaks the truth so that you will believe.  36 For these things have come to pass, that the Scripture may be fulfilled: let not his bone be broken.  37 Also in another place the Scripture says, 'They shall look upon him whom they have pierced.'

     38 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus, but secretly out of fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to take down the body of Jesus; and Pilate allowed it. He went and took down the body of Jesus.  39 And Nicodemus also came, who had come to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloe, about a hundred liters.  40 So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in swaddling clothes with spices, as the Jews usually bury.  41 In the place where He was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which no one had yet been laid.  E-42 Jesus was laid there for the sake of the Friday of the Jews, because the tomb was near.

     1 On the very first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb.  2 So he ran and came to Simon Peter and to another disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, 'They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.'  3 Immediately Peter and the other disciple went out, and went to the sepulchre.  4 And they both ran together; but the other disciple fled faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first.  5 And stooping down, he saw the swaddling clothes lying there; but he did not enter the tomb.  6 After him came Simon Peter, and entered into the tomb, and saw only the swaddling clothes lying down, 7 and the cloth that was on his head, not lying with swaddling clothes, but specially twisted in another place.  8 Then another disciple also came in, who had first come to the sepulchre, and saw, and believed.  9 For they did not yet know from the Scriptures that he was to rise from the dead.  10 So the disciples returned to their homes again.

     11 And Mary stood by the tomb and wept. And while she was weeping, she bent down into the tomb, 12 and saw two angels sitting in white robes, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus lay.  13 And they said to her, 'Wife! Why are you crying? He said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."  14 And when she had said these things, she turned back, and saw Jesus standing; but she did not know that it was Jesus.  15 Jesus said to her, "Woman! Why are you crying? Who are you looking for? She, thinking that it was the gardener, said to Him, "Lord! if thou hast carried Him out, tell me where thou hast laid Him, and I will take Him.  16 Jesus said to her, "Mary! She turned and said to Him, "Rabbi! - what does it mean: Teacher!  17 Jesus said to her, 'Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go unto my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and unto my God and your God.  18 Mary Magdalene goes and announces to the disciples that she has seen the Lord and that He has told her this.

     19 And on the evening of the first day of the week, when the doors of the house where his disciples were gathered were shut, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came, and stood in the midst, and said unto them, Peace be unto you.  20 And when he had said these things, he showed them his hands and feet and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.  21 And Jesus said unto them a second time, Peace be unto you. as the Father has sent me, so do I send you.  22 And when he had said this, he blew, and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.  23 To whom ye forgive sins, they shall be forgiven; on whom you leave, they will remain.  E-24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not here with them when Jesus came.  25 The other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said unto them, Unless I see the wounds of the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
