[995] From thence he went to Peniel, and said the same thing to the inhabitants thereof, and the people of Peniel answered him as the people of Succoth answered.

[996] And Jeroboam built Shechem on the mountain of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; From thence he went and built Penuel.

[997] Listen to us, our lord; you are the prince of God in our midst;

[998] These are the gifts which your servant has brought to my master, to give to the youths who serve my master.

[999] And he returned to the man of God, and all those who accompanied him, and came and stood before him, and said, "Behold, I have learned that there is no God in all the earth, except Israel; therefore accept a gift from thy servant.

[1000] [Ahsa] said to him, "Give me a blessing; Thou hast given me the land of the noonday, give me also springs of water. And he gave her [Caleb according to her desire] the springs above and the springs below.

[1001] And on Mount Zion there will be salvation, and it will be holy; and the house of Jacob shall have its inheritance for its possession... And the saviors will come to Mount Zion to judge the mountain of Esau, and the kingdom of the Lord will come to pass.

[1002] Thou shalt show faithfulness to Jacob, mercy to Abraham, which thou didst promise with an oath to our fathers from the first days.

[1003] And Laban said to him, "Oh, that I would find favor in your eyes! I notice that the Lord has blessed me for you.

[1006] Moses also gave an inheritance to the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, according to their families... and in the valley of Beth-garam and Beth-nimrah and Succoth and Zaphon, the remnant of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon; its border was the Jordan as far as the Sea of Hinnereth beyond the Jordan to the east.
