Lopukhin's explanatory Bible. OLD TESTAMENT.GENESIS

[1288] My father cursed me, saying, Behold, I am dying; in my tomb, which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there bury me. And now I would like to go and bury my father and return. [Joseph's words were recounted to Pharaoh.]

[1289] And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have made me angry, making me hateful to the inhabitants of this land, to the Canaanites and Perizzites." I have few people; they shall gather against me, they shall smite me, and I and my house shall be destroyed.

[1290] Simeon and Levi are brothers, their swords are instruments of cruelty; Let not my soul enter into their counsel, and let not my glory be joined to their assembly, for in their anger they killed a man, and cut the sinews of the calf at their whim.

[1291] And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be set at the head of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow to it.

[1292] The Lord's fiery wrath will not be turned away until He has done and fulfilled the intentions of His heart. In the last days you will understand this.

[1293] And you will rise up against my people, against Israel, like a cloud to cover the land: it will be in the last days, and I will bring you to my land, that the nations may know me, when I am over you, Gog, and I will show my holiness in their eyes.

[1294] And now I have come to tell you what will happen to your people in the last times, for the vision belongs to distant days."

[1295] After this the children of Israel will turn and seek the Lord their God and David their king, and they will fear the Lord and his goodness in the last days.

[1296] And it shall come to pass in the last days: the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be set at the head of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and the nations shall flow to it.

[1297] God, who spoke many times and in many ways to the fathers in the prophets, in these last days has spoken to us in the Son, whom He has made heir of all things, through Whom He also created the worlds.

[1298] But he must recognize the son as the firstborn unloved, [and] give him a double part of all that he has, for he is the firstfruits of his power, to him belongs the right of birthright.

[1299] He smote every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of strength in the tents of Ham;

[1300] And he smote every firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength.

[1301] And when the soul went out of her, for she was dying, she called his name Benoni. But his father called him Benjamin.
