? In 1994, in the Resolution of the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church "On Pseudo-Christian Sects, Neo-Paganism and Occultism" (December 1994) The "Church of Scientology" was called a pseudo-religion.

? From the very moment the Church of Scientology appeared in Russia, its activities were accompanied by negative responses in the press. Since then, scientists have repeatedly negatively assessed its activities. For example, in the Conclusion on the Licensing of the Non-State Educational Institution "Hubbard College on R and B Management" (1995) it was noted: "Taking into account that the teaching technology used by the College, on the one hand, does not represent anything fundamentally new in the field of world practice of teaching management, administration, and work with personnel (for example, the American school "Link", registered in Moscow, is moving in the same direction), but, on the other hand, the training of leaders in the college is carried out according to the technology of teaching L.R. Hubbard and is colored by the personality of this man who created the Church of Scientology, Scientology, Dianetics, therefore, in full accordance with the "Regulations on Licensing", documents clarifying the curriculum were involved in the examination... According to experts,... Hubbard's teaching cannot claim to be leading or promising, since it is a closed system and its initial axioms, as well as goals and methods, are not universal. They cannot be divided into the sphere of sciences, become an integral part of the concept of the Universe as a unity of nature-man-society. The method itself, the nature of treatment of the person (subordinate mechanical execution, orientation only to the instruction of the teacher, etc.) are aimed at the formation of a functionary, and not at a creative personality. The text of religious works, as well as books on R. Hubbard's technology of management, analyzed by experts as clarifying material, is emasculated, very normative, scientific, with a clearly expressed system of norms: in contrast to world religions, there is a manipuric level (origins in Zen Buddhism), where there is no love, no suffering, no disclosure of a person's inner potential. ? The Department of Public Relations of the Administration of the Nizhny Novgorod Region prepared and sent out, accompanied by a letter from the Director of the Department of Public Relations V.I. Lysov, the Information Material "L.R. Hubbard and the Organizations He Created" [18]. The cover letter, in particular, said: "At the request of the Department of Public Relations, a group of specialists has prepared material on the organizations created by the American writer L.R. Hubbard. Since most organizations are already operating in our region, we should expect, as was the case in other countries, negative consequences of these activities."

? In June 1996, Order No. 254 of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation dated 19.06.1996 "On the Cancellation of the "Methodological Recommendations "Detoxification Program" prohibited the use of the detoxification program and other methods of Scientology and Dianetics in the Russian health care system, providing in the information material for this order an objective and reliable analysis of the real essence of the "Church of Scientology" and its affiliated organizations [16]:

"In order to bring the regulatory framework of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation in line with the current legislation, I order: 1. The heads of health care bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the heads of health care institutions of federal subordination, including research, medical and preventive and educational institutions, shall consider null and void the Medical Industry of the Russian Federation V.K. Agapov "Methodological Recommendations "Detoxification Program". Not to allow the propaganda and use of detoxification methods, other methods of Scientology and Dianetics arising from the teachings of R. Hubbard in the practice of health care."

The said Order of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation was accompanied by Information Material [16]: "The Order prohibits the use of the method of detoxification in the practice of health care, other methods of Scientology arising from the teachings of L.R. Hubbard by the fact that the methodologies claiming medical value could not pass state licensing in any country of the world and did not receive permission for use. Moreover, state examinations conducted in a number of countries have shown the anti-scientific and destructive effect of L.R. Hubbard's methodology on the human body and psyche. In the world scientific literature and in a number of court protocols, numerous cases of severe damage to the health of patients, including death, cases of severe mental disorder up to suicide have been reflected. It is known that the author of the technologies, L.R. Hubbard, is not a doctor, did not have not only a medical, but also a higher education. L.R. Hubbard himself was not a man with a completely healthy psyche. So, in 1947, he was undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Oak Knoll Marine Hospital (USA). According to Hubbard's son, much of his father's "scientific discoveries" were "created" in a state of deep drug intoxication. The son writes that Hubbard, who indulged in various sexual perversions, suffered from venereal diseases and mental disorders for many years. He was involved in the most repulsive forms of occultism. It is known that L.R. Hubbard proclaimed lying as the only effective way to control people. According to the charter of Scientology organizations, every word spoken or written by L.R. Hubbard is a "holy scripture," i.e., absolute truth. Hubbard's organization has been the subject of legal proceedings in various countries around the world. L.R. Hubbard is known in the world for the fact that he was in constant sharp confrontation with official medicine and psychiatry of all countries and extremely sharply opposed all official medical institutions. According to expert commissions abroad, Scientologists, without a license, use methods of hypnotic influence on the human psyche. With few exceptions, Scientology personnel do not have the necessary medical training to apply suggestion and hypnotic techniques."

Вышеуказанный приказ вызвал целую бурю возмущений саентологов и их всевозможных защитников. Гуманитарный Центр Хаббарда даже сочинил по этому поводу «публичное заявление» [1]. Особенно поусердствовал небезызвестный Глеб Якунин, который окрестил этот приказ «идеологической зачисткой со стороны Минздравмедпрома» [22], что само по себе свидетельствует об односторонней (без учета установленных законом требований к применению методов и средств лечения и без заботы о населении) направленности оценки Общественным комитетом защиты свободы совести действий Минздравмедпрома России [15].

? В сентябре 1996 года в России в передаче «Чрезвычайный канал» (РТР) был показан отлично снятый фильм корреспондентки Юлии Шамаль о деятельности в России «Церкви саентологии» и ее дочерних организаций (Центр дианетики, «Нарконон», Хаббард-колледж и др.), об опасности саентологии для личности и общества, реальной, а не придуманной самими саентологами истории этой организации [1]. Особенно поразила телезрителей показанная в этом фильме история страданий молодой девушки из Нижнего Новгорода. Бедняжка с поседевшими в двадцать лет волосами все же сумела вырваться из цепких лап саентологии, но стоило ее здоровью это очень и очень не дешево.

? Опасность деятельности «Церкви саентологии» для общества была подтверждена экспертами Российской Академии государственной службы при Президенте Российской Федерации и Комитета по связям с религиозными организациями Правительства Москвы в выпущенном в 1996 году этими организациями справочнике: «На протяжении всех лет существования Церковь саентологии постоянно обвинялась в нарушениях прав человека и религиозных свобод. Это связано с тем, что разработанная Л.Рон Хаббардом «программа очищения» ведет к полному и безропотному подчинению ее адептов руководству Церкви» [13].

? В октябре 1996 года Управление Федеральной службы налоговой полиции РФ по Санкт-Петербургу арестовало имущество городского саентологического центра - религиозной организации тоталитарного толка - за невыполнение требования о погашении задолженности по платежам. По результатам проверки финансово-хозяйственной деятельности центру еще в начале сентября было предъявлено постановление о немедленной уплате налогов и штрафов. Несмотря на то, что наличные деньги к ним поступают, саентологи требованию не подчинились, а на их расчетном счете по-прежнему значится всего несколько рублей. Проверка финансовой деятельности выявила нарушения правил ведения бухгалтерского учета и налогового законодательства. Основным способом ухода от уплаты налогов стало оформление выручки, полученной от сотен обучающихся на семинарах и курсах, в качестве «членских взносов». Только в 1995 году таким образом было оформлено около 625 миллионов рублей: желающим обучаться в центре предлагалось подписать заявление о приеме в члены организации. Кроме того, центр «списал» учебные пособия по дианетике и саентологии, якобы предназначенные для раздачи слушателям курсов и семинаров. Сумма списания по «липовой» накладной составила 10,3 миллиона рублей. Сокрытие выручки на сотни тысяч рублей совершалось и при распределении литературы через петербургскую книготорговую сеть. Центру предъявлены штрафные санкции на более чем 80 миллионов рублей [2,6].

? В октябре 1996 года в Екатеринбурге был закрыт «Хаббард-колледж», с 9 октября 1996 года «Хаббард-колледж» Нижнего Тагила исключен Управлением юстиции Свердловской области из государственных реестров Свердловской области и общественных организаций в связи с фактом его самоликвидации [1].
