Irina Yakovlevna Medvedeva

(May 5, 1949, Moscow), director of the Institute of Demographic Security, writer, publicist and playwright, child psychologist, vice-president and co-founder of the Interregional Foundation for Social and Psychological Assistance to the Family and Child, co-chairman of the International Society of Art Teachers and Art Therapists. Member of the Union of Writers of Russia. Publicist, works in constant co-authorship with T.L. Shishova. Biography

She graduated from the Moscow Pedagogical Institute, a psychologist-defectologist by profession. After graduating from the institute, she worked in a children's psychiatric hospital, became interested in journalism. She wrote essays for children's newspapers and magazines. In 1978, the first book "Think, Say, Do" was published, addressed to teenagers. In the 80s, she took up dramaturgy, in co-authorship with Shishova T.L. wrote plays for puppet theaters.

In the 1990s, in collaboration with T.L. Shishova, he created a method of psychological correction called "dramatic psychoelevation", designed for children with behavioral and communication difficulties. The main tool of treatment is a puppet theater. Work on this method also involves close contact with the child's family.

Talking with parents, answering their numerous questions, I.Y. Medvedeva and T.L. Shishova collected material for the first joint book - "A Book for Difficult Parents" (1994). In 1996, the second book of the co-authors "Colorful White Crows" about children's aggression, shyness, jealousy, stubbornness and other problems was published. Pedagogical articles of co-authors are published in the magazines "Domovoy", "Krestyanka", and in the publications "Teacher's Newspaper", "People's Education", "Family and School", etc.

The third book of the co-authors "New Time – New Children?" touches upon issues of a socio-political nature. Chapters from this book were also published in various newspapers and magazines (in "Novaya", "Nezavisima", "Moskovskaya Pravda", "Megapolis - Continent", "Youth", "Moscow", "October", etc.).

In 1996, I. Medvedeva and T.L. Shishova became laureates of the magazine "Youth" for a series of essays devoted to the problems of childhood. In 1997, they were awarded the prize of the magazine "Moscow".

In 1995, they were elected co-chairs of the International Society of Art Therapists and Art Educators.

Thanks to the efforts of I. Medvedeva and T.L. Shishova, the implementation of the project "Sex Education of Russian Schoolchildren" was suspended and the law on reproductive rights, which contributes to a decrease in the birth rate in Russia, was not adopted. I. Medvedeva and T.L. Shishova are active opponents of the birth control policy, which is promoted in Russia by the Family Planning Association. According to Academician of the Russian Academy of Education I.S. Kon, these speeches by I. Medvedeva and T.L. Shishova are "a rare mixture of ignorance, falsification and inversion of cause-and-effect relationships" [18].

Irina Yakovlevna is an opponent of the introduction of the Western version of juvenile justice in Russia.
