The Gospel of Luke

32 And for this it was necessary to rejoice and be glad, that this thy brother was dead, and was alive again, and was lost, and was found.

- 16

1 And he said also to his disciples, A certain man was rich, and had a steward, against whom it was reported to him that he was squandering his possessions.

2 And having called him, he said to him, 'What is this that I hear about you?' give an account of thy stewardship, for thou canst no longer govern.

3 Then the steward said to himself, 'What shall I do?' my lord takes away from me the stewardship of the house; I can't dig, I'm ashamed to ask;

4 I know what I shall do, that they may receive me into their houses, when I shall be removed from the stewardship of the house.

5 And having called his lord's debtors, every one separately, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my lord?'

6 He said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, "Take your receipt, and sit down quickly, and write, 'Fifty.'"

7 Then he said to another, 'How much do you owe?' And he answered, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said to him, Take your receipt, and write, Eighty.

13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be zealous for the one, and neglect the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

14 And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they laughed at him.

15 And he said unto them, 'Ye profess yourselves to be righteous in the sight of men, but God knoweth your hearts: for what is high among men is an abomination in the sight of God.'

16 The Law and the Prophets before John; from this time the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone enters it by effort.

17 But heaven and earth will pass away sooner than one tittle of the law be lost.

18 Whosoever puteth away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery, and whosoever marries a woman who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.

19 A certain man was rich, and clothed himself in purple and fine linen, and every day he feasted magnificently.
