The Gospel of John

24 But Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all

25 and had no need that any man should bear witness of man, for he himself knew what was in man.

- 3

1 And there was one among the Pharisees, whose name was Nicodemus, *one* of the rulers of the Jews.

2 He came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi! we know that you are a teacher who came from God; for no one can do such miracles as you do, unless God is with him.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, 'Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'

4 Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old?" Can he enter his mother's womb another time and be born?

5 Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say to you, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not be surprised that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

8 The Spirit breatheth where it will, and thou hearest its voice, but thou knowest not whence it cometh or whither it goeth: so it is with every one that is born of the Spirit.

9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, "How can this be?"

10 Jesus answered and said to him, 'You are a teacher of Israel, and do you not know this?'

11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak of what we know, and bear witness of what we have seen, but ye receive not our testimony.

12 If I have told you about earthly things, and you do not believe, how will you believe if I speak to you about heavenly things?

13 No man ascended into heaven except the Son of man who came down from heaven, which is in heaven.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up,

15 that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

18 He who believes in him is not judged, but he who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
