The Gospel of John

48 Nathanael said to him, 'Why do you know me?' Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

49 Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi! You are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel.

50 Jesus answered and said to him, 'You believe, because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree; you will see more than this.

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, From henceforth ye shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending unto the Son of man.

E-1 On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

2 Jesus and his disciples were also called to the wedding.

3 And because there was a lack of wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, 'They have no wine.'

4 Jesus said to her, 'What have I to do with you, Woman?' My hour has not yet come.

5 His mother said to the servants, 'Whatsoever he says to you, do it.'

6 And there were six stone waterpots, standing according to the *custom* of the purification of the Jews, containing two or three measures.

7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the vessels with water." And they filled them to the top.

8 And he saith unto them, Now draw it, and bring it to the master of the feast. And they carried it.

9 And when the steward had tasted the water that had become wine, and he did not know whence it came from, only the servants who drew the water knew, then the steward called the bridegroom

10 And he said to him, 'Every man gives first good wine, and when they are drunk, then the worst; and thou hast preserved the good wine until now.

11 Thus Jesus began the miracles at Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

12 And after these things he came to Capernaum, himself, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and there they stayed a few days.

13 The Passover of the Jews drew nigh, and Jesus came to Jerusalem

14 And he found that in the temple they were selling oxen, sheep, and pigeons, and there were money-changers sitting.

15 And he made a whip of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, *also* the sheep and the oxen; and scattered the money of the moneychangers, and overturned their tables.

16 And he said to those who sold doves, 'Take this from hence, and do not make my Father's house a house of trade.'
