The New Testament is for children. The Acts of the Holy Apostles

44 And the rest are to be saved, some on planks, and some on something from the ship; and thus all were saved to earth.

Chapter 28

1 And when they had escaped, those who were with Paul knew that the island was called Melita.

2 The foreigners have shown us no little love for mankind, for they, because of the rain and cold, have kindled a fire, and received us all.

3 And when Paul had gathered up a great deal of brushwood, and was putting it on the fire, the viper came out of the heat, and hung on his hand.

4 And the foreigners, when they saw the serpent hanging on his hand, said to one another, 'Surely this man is a murderer, when the judgment of God does not leave him alive, having been saved from the sea.'

5 But he shook off the serpent into the fire, and suffered no harm.

6 They expected that he would have inflammation, or that he would suddenly fall dead; but having waited a long time, and seeing that no misfortune had befallen him, they changed their minds, and said that he was God.

7 Near that place were the estates of the governor of the island, whose name was Publius; He received us and treated us in a friendly way for three days.

8 The father of Publius lay suffering from fever and pain in his stomach; Paul went in to him, prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

9 And after these things the rest of the island, who had sicknesses, came and were healed,

10 And they did us much honour, and when we departed, they provided us with what we needed.

11 And after three months we sailed in the ship of Alexandria, which was called the Dioscuri, which had wintered in that island,

12 And having sailed to Syracuse, they tarried there three days.
