21 And they said to them, 'May the Lord see and judge you, because you have made us hateful in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants, and have given them a sword in their hands to kill us.'

22 And Moses turned to the Lord, and said, 'Lord! Why hast thou subjected this people to such calamity, [and] why hast thou sent me?

23 for from the time that I came to Pharaoh, and spoke in thy name, he began to deal worse with this people; but to deliver, Thou hast not delivered Thy people.

1 And the Lord said to Moses, 'Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh; by the action of a strong hand he will let them go; by the action of a strong hand he will even drive them out of his land.

2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord.

3 I appeared to Abraham, and to Isaac, and to Jacob, with the name "O Almighty," but with my name, "Lord," I did not reveal myself to them.

4 And I made my covenant with them, that I might give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they sojourned.

5 And I heard the groaning of the children of Israel, that the Egyptians were holding them in bondage, and I remembered my covenant.

6 Say therefore to the children of Israel, 'I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage, and I will save you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments;

7 And I will receive you as my people, and I will be your God, and you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the yoke of Egypt.

8 And I will bring you into the land for which I lifted up my hand, and swore to give it to Abraham, and to Isaac, and to Jacob, and I will give it to you for an inheritance. I am the Lord.

9 Moses told these things to the children of Israel; but they did not listen to Moses because of the cowardice and the burden of the work.

10 And the Lord said to Moses, saying,
