Gospel story

Lux. 3, 15-18.

And when the people were waiting, and all were thinking in their hearts about John, whether he was the Christ, John answered everyone: "I baptize you with water for repentance, but there comes after me the One who is stronger than me, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry, from whom I am not worthy to bend down and untie the strap of His shoes; He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire; His spade[4] is in his hand, and he will cleanse his threshing floor, and gather his wheat into the garner, and the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.

John preached many other gospels to the people, instructing them.

And it came to pass in those days, that when all the people were baptized by John, the Lord Jesus came from Galilee, from Nazareth of Galilee, to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.

And John restrained Him, and said, I must be baptized by Thee, and dost Thou come to me? But the Lord Jesus answered and said to him, "Leave it now; for thus it behooves us to fulfill all righteousness. Then John admits Him.

And the Lord Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan.

And when He was baptized and prayed, behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form, like a dove. And immediately John saw the heavens opening and the Spirit of God descending like a dove and descending upon Him.

And behold, there was a voice from heaven, saying to him who was being baptized: Thou art my beloved Son; in Thee is My good pleasure! and to the Baptist: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!

Having been baptized in this way, Christ the Lord immediately came out of the water. He was then about thirty years old.
