The Gospel of John

32. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

33. They answered him, "We are Abraham's seed and have never been slaves to anyone; how then sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34. Jesus answered them, "Verily, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.

35. But the servant does not dwell in the house forever; The Son abides eternally.

36. Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

37. I know that you are the seed of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me, because my word cannot be contained in you.

38. I say what I have seen in my Father; but you do what you have seen in your father.

39. They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were the children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham."

40. And now you seek to kill Me, the Man who told you the truth which I heard from God: Abraham did not do this.

41. You do your father's works. And they said to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, God.

42. Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and have come; for I did not come of myself, but he sent me.

43. Why do you not understand my speech? For you cannot hear my words.

44. Your father is the devil; and you want to fulfill the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not stand in the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he speaks lies, he speaks his own, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

45. And because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.

46. Which of you will convict me of unrighteousness? But if I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me?

47. He who is of God hears the words of God. You do not listen because you are not of God.

48. To this the Jews answered and said to him, "Are we not saying the truth that you are a Samaritan, and that a demon is in you?

49. Jesus answered, "There is no demon in me; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

50. However, I do not seek My glory: there is One who seeks and He who judges.

51. Verily, truly, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.

52. The Jews said to him, "Now we know that the demon is in you." Abraham died, and the prophets, and Thou sayest, Whosoever keepeth My word shall never taste death.
