Be moderate in every religious matter, for virtue must also be prudent, corresponding to the forces and circumstances of the time and place. It is good, for example, to pray from a pure heart, but if prayer does not correspond to physical strength, to various circumstances, places and times, then it will no longer be a virtue. That is why the Apostle Peter teaches: "Show prudence in your virtue, temperance in prudence, patience in temperance" (2 Peter 1:5, 6).
About sins
Let no one think that sin is something unimportant. No, sin is a terrible evil that kills the soul! Who among the sincere believers does not know what sorrow and distress strikes the soul, what scorching fire rages in the chest after committing some sin?
Go ahead!
"Whoever does not gather with Me," says the Lord, "scatters" (Luke 11:23). All one's life one must strive forward in the spiritual life, rise higher and higher; to increase more and more the richness of good works. If we stand at one point of moral perfection, it is the same as slipping backwards. Not to gain is like losing.
On the cares of life
Worldly cares, like mist, obscure the mental horizon of the soul and darken the eyes of the heart. Therefore, learn not to worry about anything, but to cast all your sorrow and care on the Lord. Do not worry when you have to spend to help those in need: this will serve to new and greater mercies of the Lord to you.
