And we will give our daughters in marriage to you, and take your daughters in marriage, and we will dwell with you, and we will make one nation.
And if ye do not obey us in circumcision, we will take our daughter, and depart.
And Hamor, and Shechem the son of Hamor, pleased these words.
The young man did not know how to do this, because he loved the daughter of Jacob. And he was the most respected of all from his father's house.
And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gates of their city, and spoke to the inhabitants of their city, saying,
These people are at peace with us; let them dwell on the earth and trade in it; but the earth is wide before them. Let us take their daughters as our wives and give our daughters in marriage.
Only on this condition do men consent to dwell with us, and to be one people, that all the males also may be circumcised among us, as they are circumcised.
Are not their flocks, and their possessions, and all their cattle for us? Only [in this] will we agree with them, and they will live with us.
And all those who came out of the gates of his city listened to Hamor and Shechem his son: and all the males were circumcised, all who went out of the gates of his city.
And on the third day, while they were sick, the two sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, the brethren of Dininas, took each his sword, and boldly attacked the city, and slew all the males;
And they slew Hamor himself, and Shechem his son, with the sword; And they took Dinah out of the house of Shechem, and went out.
The sons of Jacob came to the slain and plundered the city, because they had dishonored [Dinah] their sister.
And they took their flocks, and their herds, and their asses, and whatever was in the city, and whatever was in the field;
And all their riches, and all their children, and their wives, they took captive, and plundered all that was in the houses.
