33 By the same way by which he came, he will return, and he will not enter this city, says the Lord.

34 I will guard this city, that I may save it for my own sake, and for the sake of David my servant."

35 And it came to pass that night that an angel of the Lord went and smote in the camp of Assyria a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And they arose in the morning, and behold, all the bodies were dead.

36 And Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went, and returned, and dwelt in Nineveh.

37 And it came to pass, as he worshipped in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons slew him with the sword, and they themselves fled to the land of Ararat. And Asardan his son reigned in his stead.

Chapter 20

1 In those days Hezekiah was mortally ill, and Isaiah the son of Amoz the prophet came to him, and said to him, 'Thus says the Lord, Make a covenant for your house, for you will die and not recover.'

2 And he turned his face back to the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,

3 "O Lord! remember that I have walked before Thy face faithfully and with a heart devoted to Thee, and have done what is right in Thy sight." And Hezekiah wept mightily.

4 Isaiah had not yet left the city, when the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

5 And thou shalt return, and say unto Hezekiah the lord of my people, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears. Behold, I will heal thee; on the third day you will go to the house of the Lord;

6 And I will add fifteen years to thy days, and I will save thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.

7 And Isaiah said, 'Take a layer of figs.' And they took it, and put it to the abscess; and he recovered.

8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What sign is that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go on the third day to the house of the Lord?
