2 And he turned his face back to the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,

3 "O Lord! remember that I have walked before Thy face faithfully and with a heart devoted to Thee, and have done what is right in Thy sight." And Hezekiah wept mightily.

4 Isaiah had not yet left the city, when the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

5 And thou shalt return, and say unto Hezekiah the lord of my people, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears. Behold, I will heal thee; on the third day you will go to the house of the Lord;

6 And I will add fifteen years to thy days, and I will save thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.

7 And Isaiah said, 'Take a layer of figs.' And they took it, and put it to the abscess; and he recovered.

8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What sign is that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go on the third day to the house of the Lord?

9 And Isaiah said, 'This is a sign unto thee from the Lord, that the Lord shall fulfill the word which he has spoken, 'Shall the shadows go forward ten steps, or turn back ten steps?'

10 And Hezekiah said, 'It is easy for a shadow to move forward ten steps; no, let the shadow turn back ten steps.

11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord, and brought the shadow back on the steps where it went down the steps of Ahaz, ten steps.

12 At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah was sick.

13 And when Hezekiah had heard the messengers, he shewed them his storerooms, and the silver and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointments, and all his armory, and all that was in his treasuries. there was not a single thing that Hezekiah did not show them in his house and in all his possessions.

14 And Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and said to him, 'What did these men say, and whence did they come to you?' And Hezekiah said, "They came from a distant land, from Babylon."

15 And Isaiah said, 'What have they seen in your house?' And Hezekiah said, All that is in my house they have seen, there is not one thing left that I have not shown them in my treasuries.
