23 Are not their flocks, and their possessions, and all their cattle for us? Only [in this] will we agree with them, and they will live with us.
24 And all those who came out of the gates of his city listened to Hamor and Shechem his son: and all the males were circumcised, all who went out of the gates of his city.
25 And on the third day, while they were sick, the two sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, the brethren of Dininas, took each his sword, and boldly attacked the city, and slew all the males;
26 And they slew Hamor himself, and Shechem his son, with the sword; And they took Dinah out of the house of Shechem, and went out.
27 The sons of Jacob came to the slain and plundered the city, because they had dishonored [Dinah] their sister.
28 And they took their flocks, and their herds, and their asses, and whatever was in the city, and whatever was in the field;
29 And all their riches, and all their children, and their wives, they took captive, and plundered all that was in the houses.
30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have made me angry, making me hateful to the inhabitants of this land, to the Canaanites and Perizzites." I have few people; they shall gather against me, they shall smite me, and I and my house shall be destroyed.
31 And they said, 'Is it possible to deal with our sister as with a harlot?
Chapter 35
1 God said to Jacob, 'Get up, go to Bethel, and dwell there, and build there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the presence of Esau your brother.'
2 And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Cast away the strange gods that are with you, and be cleansed, and change your garments;
3 Let us arise and go to Bethel; there I will build an altar to God, who heard me in the day of my affliction, and was with me in the way I walked.
4 And they gave to Jacob all the strange gods that were in their hands, and the earrings that were in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak that is near Shechem. [And left them unknown even to this day.]
