14 He sits down at the door of his house on a chair, in the high places of the city,

15 To call them that pass by the way, that go straight in their own ways:

16 "Whosoever is a fool, turn hither!" and she said to the foolish:

17 "Stolen waters are sweet, and hidden bread is pleasant."

18 And he does not know that the dead are there, and that in the depths of hell they are called by her. [But you jump away, do not linger in the place, do not fix your gaze on it; for in this way you will pass through foreign waters.

Chapter 10

1 Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son pleases his father, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

2 Unrighteous treasures are of no avail, but righteousness delivereth from death.

3 The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to suffer hunger, but he will cast out the gain of the wicked.

4 A slothful hand maketh the poor, but the hand of the diligent makes them rich.

5 He that gathereth in the season of the summer is a son of understanding, but he that sleepeth in the time of harvest is a son of dissoluteness.

6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence will stop the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the righteous shall be blessed, but the name of the wicked shall be abhorred.

8 A wise man in heart receiveth the commandments, but a fool shall stumble with his lips.

9 He that walketh in blamelessness, walketh safely; but whoever turns his ways will be punished.

10 He who blinks his eyes causes vex, but he who is foolish will stumble with his lips.

11 The mouth of the righteous is the fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked will stop violence.

12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.

13 In the mouth of a prudent man is wisdom, but in the body of a fool is the rod.

14 The wise keep knowledge, but the mouth of a fool is near destruction.

15 The wealth of the rich is his strong city, but the trouble of the poor is their poverty.
