16 The labor of the righteous unto life, the success of the wicked unto sin.

17 He who keeps instruction is on the way to life; but he who rejects reproof wanders.

18 He that hideth hatred hath a lying mouth; and whoever divulges slander is a fool.

19 With much talk sin cannot escape, but he who restrains his mouth is wise.

20 Choice silver is the tongue of the righteous, but the heart of the wicked is nothing.

21 The mouth of the righteous shepherds many, but the foolish die for want of understanding.

22 The blessing of the Lord enriches and does not bring sorrow with it.

23 To a fool a criminal act is like a pastime, but to a man of understanding wisdom is peculiar.

24 Whatsoever the wicked feareth shall come upon him, and the desire of the righteous shall be fulfilled.

25 As a whirlwind passes, so there is no more wicked; but the righteous are on an eternal foundation.

26 As vinegar is to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is he slothful to those who send it.

27 The fear of the Lord adds to the days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The expectation of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.

29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the blameless, and fear for them that practice iniquity.

30 The righteous shall never be shaken, but the wicked shall not dwell on the earth.

31 The mouth of the righteous shall exude wisdom, but the evil tongue shall be cut off.

32 The mouth of the righteous knoweth that which is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked knoweth wickedness.

Chapter 11

1 A false scale is an abomination to the Lord, but the right weight is pleasing to him.

2 Pride will come, shame will come; but with the humble, wisdom. [A righteous man, when he dies, forsakes regret; but the destruction of the wicked is sudden and joyful.]

3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the wickedness of the deceitful will destroy them.
