For the kingdom of heaven is like the master of the house, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard

And having agreed with the laborers for a denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard;

And when he went out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the market-place,

And he said unto them, Go ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoever shall follow, I will give unto you. They went.

And going out again about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise.

At last, going out about the eleventh hour, he found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here all day idle?'

They said to him, 'No one has hired us.' He said to them, "Go ye also into my vineyard, and what shall follow, ye shall receive."

And when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.

And those who came about the eleventh hour received a denarius each.

And those who came first thought that they would receive more, but they also received a denarius;

And when they had received, they began to murmur against the master of the house

And they said, 'These last have labored one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have endured the hardship of the day and the heat.'

And he answered and said to one of them, 'Friend! I do not offend you; Did you not make a deal with me for a denarius?

Take what is yours and go; but I want to give the latter the same thing as you;

Do I not have authority in my own to do what I will? Or is thy eye envious because I am kind?

So shall the last be first, and the first last, for many are called, but few are chosen.

And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took away the twelve disciples alone, and said to them,

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death.

And they shall deliver him up to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified; and on the third day he will rise again.

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, bowing down and asking something of him.

He said to her, 'What do you want?' She said to Him, "Tell these two of my sons to sit with You, one on Your right hand, and the other on Your left, in Your kingdom."
